This video both is interesting to watch, and also shows how ethers to to boil at a lower temperature than things like alcohols or water.
Pedagogy:
Similar to alcohols in terms of materials covered
Slight emphasis on solubilities, as ethers are quite often used as solvents for organic compounds, polar and nonpolar
Be sure to note that the -OR group is the smaller part. (ie H3CO- is methoxy). This -OR group is similar to the alcohol functional group of -OH, but with alkyl groups instead of hydrogen.
A mnemonic tip for remembering that the ether group is -OR, as it uses OXYgen as a bridge, and the group in front is called and alkOXY group.
