Acids and Bases
Lesson Hook
The lesson hook can be a quiz on laboratory technique and a demo on how to preform a proper titration.

Pedagogical Approach:
Students will conduct acid-base titration using HCl and NaOH with a base indicator. Students will repeat the titration at least three times to ensure accuracy and precision. Students will need to ensure that the volume of titrant added is within 1 mL between each of their runs. This will allow students to improve their analytical skills.
Consolidate
As a class, discuss possible sources of errors and the environmental implications to acid rain or acid deposition. As an assessment, students will write a formal lab report including a portion discussing environmental implications to varying pH levels. Students will peer-edit to allow for assessment as learning.
